Civilian Identity: Addax Tembo Caracal (She forgot her original name following the Lampades' curse)
Codename: N/A
Nicknames: A.C, Add, Kat, Africa, Dax. (The nickname Africa comes from her name's origin, based solely off of wild African animals.)
Gender: Addax is a female Shape-Shifter. Her two main forms are of a Catalan Drac and a Human. (The Catalan Drac is a dragon sized a little over a full-grown man. It has two legs, rarely four, and breathes fire. In most legends it has wings, and its scales release such a foul, putrid odor that it can potentially rot areas off of the skin of unhealthy living beings it comes into contact with.)
Apparent age: Generally around 18, but she can briefly alter her appearance to seem older or younger depending on her intentions.
Age: Addax was cursed when she was 16 to live the immortal life of a shapeshifter. She lives in the human body of a 16 year old girl, but is really without age. She has been alive for thousands of years consecutively and spends her time wandering through the world.
Hair: In her human for she prefers to have her hair a light brown that cascades in free curls down the length of her shoulders. She rarely pulls it into a ponytail or into any other sort of up-do. Her hair is also variable.
Eyes: Addax has a relatively unnatural yellow/white iris, resulting from the curse of the Underworld's Lampade. This can not be altered by shapeshifting.
Height and weight: Addax is approximately 125 Lbs. and her height is around 5'5". Her height is variable, though, unlike her weight.
Appearance: Addax Caracal has a very strong, muscled build, resulting from two Roman parents that were very muscled and strong. Her nose comes to a slightly sharp point and is like her mother's nose, not her father's. Addax's ears are large and shapely, coming from her Father's side. Her fingers are slender, long, and bony, and if you look into her eyes you can see that she has been through too much for any mortal being to experience in a lifetime. Her cheekbones are high and her face has many sharp angles. She is one who you would not describe as "cute" and "beautiful", but "elegant", "graceful", or "gorgeous". Addax enjoys the luxury of painting her toenails and fingernails. Her favorite colors to wear are bright neon oranges, yellows, greens, and blues. She hates the color red, so therefore will not wear it. On her left ankle she wears a thin orange and pink anklet that she hasn't taken off since the curse was placed. That, aside from a pair of old Roman-looking white-gold earrings, she stays away from jewelry. Her clothing choices vary depending on the day, her mood, and the weather, but she sticks to clothing like shawls with baggy overshirts that vary with colorful designs. She enjoys wearing jogging pants or khakis, but tends to stay away from sweats or full length pants. She stays away from shorts. She won't wear hats either, but does wear a deep silver bandana along the crown of her scalp. Again, her appearance can vary.
Abilities: Depending on the form she chooses to take, her abilities may slightly increase or decrease. Her more prominent ability is the ability of flight when in the form of the Catalan Drac, and she can only take on the forms of dragons or land medium-small sized mammals. As a Catalan Drac she is also swift and carries a deadly stench that has the capacity to rot areas of the skin of humans she comes into contact with in less than 20 minutes. As a human she carries a rare brain function commonly referred to as Emotion-Cloning. She can feel nearly every emotion that the people within 5 feet are feeling. This is more of a hindrance than an ability at times, as it limits her capacity to recognize emotions as her own or that of an outside source. She also can temporarily influence the small thoughts and actions of humans around her and she has the capability of hiding all emotion from her face at will. She is fast and stronger than a human 16 year old boy or girl, but her stamina is low.
Equipment: Her father trained her illegally in combat when Caesar was in place as Emperor. He was later killed for his crimes. He trained her with the use of a sword and she trained herself to use throwing knives and occasionally she tried with a bow and arrow. She doesn't like using firearms so she sticks to her longsword and knives, and likes to carry the knives around with her generally concealed in her shawls, overshirts, or a specially camouflaged sheath. [Once longswords came into existence, she preferred them over normal swords]
Origin of Abilities: As a 16 year old girl she made a deal with three Lampade, vengeful Underworld Nymphs. They wanted her to exchange places with them so they could live in the Overworld, and in turn they would give her three of any abilities and gifts of her choosing. She tricked them and while they did get to live in the overworld as Imps, they were unhappy that they lost many of their Nymph capabilities and that they would be punished for leaving the Underworld without exchanging Human souls. They cursed her with immortality and Addax, thinking that they were harmless, drank the other two potions the Imps presented her as a "gift" for letting them live in the Overworld. They bestowed on her the curse of agelessness and the inability to bear offspring. (Not to say that in the future days, she couldn't use her DNA or anything, but in 1933? No way.) She was born with the Emotion-Cloning condition. No one knows where it originated.
Weaknesses: She has a terrible weakness to emotions. She can't directly say "no" otherwise guilt overpowers her. With her Emotion-Cloning condition, her emotions are increased doubly. She also can't stay in places where loud sounds or sounds that the Mortal or Human ear can't pick up are plenty, otherwise she get terrible migraines and can go temporarily Deaf. Addax has a mild case of OCD which, in battle situations, is extremely inconvenient. She also has a slight weakness to poisons and human medications, though sometimes, in spite of the physical and mental pain, she is forced to use them. She feels guilty after every death she causes and it builds up until the next death. Though she can easily snap the bones of humans, she's never successfully killed another dragon. She's bested them, but never killed them. She can not eat aquatic animals.
Personality: Generally calm and shy, when Addax Caracal gets to know somebody and makes friends with them she gets very touchy-feely and sarcastic. She's rambunctious and full of energy, but if you're a stranger she won't show it. She has only a few friends because in a generalized manner many people can not control their emotions. She knows great sadness of all kinds and can empathize with most people. If you saw her walking down the street in the city you may be compelled to think she was depressed or emotionally unstable because of her expression. She leaves no trace of emotion on her face when in public areas around people she does not know or trust. She refuses to take food that somebody else had touched with their mouth. Addax hates history. It reminds her too much of the pain from past days. She had a very strong bond with her family before they were destroyed. Anybody that comes to her with romantic questions are turned down, and she's sure there is no chance she will ever settle down or become romantically involved with anybody. When she makes up her mind, it's often hard for anybody but herself to dissuade her.
Background: Born and raised in Rome at the time of Julius Caesar's rule, her father and mother were Coliseum-Gladiator types. Her father, Magnus Spartacus, taught her to fight at a young age. She once had a brother, but he was taken away to join their Legion of Fighters. At the time, women and girls were not allowed to take up arms or possess the knowledge to use them. Magnus was discovered and taken away. Addax's mother was executed and Addax was to run. Half a year later, a month before her birthday (Which she now does not remember nor celebrate) she found a deep, black cave. She wandered inside, sword and knives at the ready, and soon she traveled far enough down that she was almost to the Underworld, a place of Hades' dwelling. There she met three Lampades carrying beautiful torches carved with skulls and signs of death. She wanted to stare at the torches, but knowing the legends and myths of these evil, dark creatures, she looked away. They struck a deal with her. In exchange for three of their wishes, she would live in the Underworld forever and they would run free in the Overworld. She knew that they would do this, and she was naive, so she walked with them to the Surface of the cave where she told them they could run free. Once they touched the sunlight their bodies shrunk and shriveled disgustingly until their torches were gone and their forms were that of the Impish. She asked for her wishes, and they asked her what she wanted. She listed off, "Her family to be alive and with her," "All her father's crimes waved off," and " To live with her family forever". The Imps were angry with her for tricking them into thinking she was accepting the deal so they gave her two potions and cursed her with immortality. One of the potions turned her into a shapeshifter and gave her an unchangeable feature, her yellow-white irises. The next potion disabled her reproductive organs, destroying her chances to have children. She let the Imps run away from her and started wandering around, ageless, making friends and being by their side at their time of death. She witnessed many sad moments and moments of extreme torment and anger. She couldn't stay in one place too long for suspicions of witchcraft were already upon her. She wanders through time still today, adhering to the laws and "norm" of society. She makes fast friends and they never last.
Base of Operations: Undecided. Addax has yet to settle down.
Criminal Record: None in any current era, though many counts of petty theft, poaching, and manslaughter do hang under her ageless belt.
Other: N/A
Sample Post: Taking a slow step forward, feathery scales rippling in apprehensive anticipation, the Catalan Drac's unusual eyes glinted mercilessly into the deep night. This is it... the creature thought, opening its fanged mouth wide enough for the yellowed and decayed teeth to be seen from meters away. A little ways away, under the Drac, under the Beech she sat in, two clothed persons lay sprawled in an embrace. Between kisses, murmurs of satisfaction, and heavy breathing, the Catalan Drac could hear the heartbeats of her next victims. Muscles tensing and loosening, she seized her chance by the throat, literally. In a movement no human eye could detect, she was clawing at her already dead victims with bite marks in their throats. Viciously, she ripped at their organs, sorting through piles of guts and veins, muscle tissues and bones, looking for her favorite part, eating along the way. Unable to find the tumorous lumps that usually form around the spine when her rotting stench comes into contact with the flesh, she stood up on her legs and shifted.
Suddenly, bright and bleary-eyed, stood a brunette girl in the place of the iridescent dragon that was there only a moment before. Even her lack of clothes was not offsetting. She took a step away from the puddles of gore that lay at her feet and turned around to avert her attention elsewhere. Walking slowly forward, she lost track of time, not thinking and breathing heavily. See, this was routine for the girl. She had lived so long, even though she had appeared only as a 15 year youngling. She killed and then walked, waiting for a stream. Once she arrived to a small brook of water babbling through some coniferous trees and huckleberry bushes, she dipped her hands in solemnly. She cleansed the blood off of all her features and out from under her nails, uttering words of regret and mercy. Once clean, she stood and shifted again, into a small rag-doll house cat with silver-red fur lining its skin. Quietly, she darted off in the direction of the nearest village, hoping to gather some clothes before her next slaughter. She would need to be less obvious a shifter, because in the current, strange world she would be burned if anyone even suspected anything. Looking at unappetizing mice, shrews, and birds along the way she felt tempted to turn around and run. To jump in the nearest river and drown herself. But she knew she couldn't, because she had a family legacy to bring to honor. Until that was done, she could only dream of killing herself. She came to a hill with a calming view of the sunset, and stopped, shifting once again into her slight human figure. Sighing gently, she laid her head on the soft grass. The sun made her bare skin tingle with warmth, and she soon fell asleep, on the hillside overlooking the shepherd's hut in the village.
